dek swap questions
full dek swap including ecu?
is that possible to do?
would it connect to the 4th gen wiring harness?
any input would be appeciated
i have wrecked 01
thinking of gettin motor and trans
and whatever else i need out of the car to make it run
thanks

im sure it could work, but im not quite certain anyone has ever done it considering you dont need the ecu to make it run right in a 4th gen. may i ask what your intention is, or why you really want to do a full dek swap?

If you really want a cali spec car with a row of O2 sensors across the front, less tuning options, and having to go to the dealership if you need to swap ECUs for whatever reason, go ahead.

hah thanks guys
my intention is to run a dek in my 96
because my vq30de currently has 213k and needs a head gasket soon...
and i dont see why id fix it if i can just run the dek
the only reason i asked is because ik u need a vafc controller for the OOVi and i was trying to see if it would just be easier to run the 01 ecu...and from what i hear now i know..thanks
iacv? what do i have to do with that? can i run the 4th gen one or run none at all?

The other option is to get an IACV adapter plate from stephenmax. If you have the money for it, I recomend that you go this route. He fabs up real good products. I've dealt with him recently and have no complaints what so ever. Your car will behave closest to stock by going this route as long as you dont half azz the install.
You can use almost any type of RPM switch or VTEC controler to activate the 00VI.

I use the IACV plate (bought second hand from the .org) and my 3.5 swap idles at ~700, temperature outside has ranged from 10 degrees to 50 degrees so far since the swap and the car runs fine. I have found very cold starts require gas pedal for the first 20 seconds then the car will idle at ~700, possibly because the hose is so small. You will need to tap and install a barb on the intake manifold for the vacuum hose to run.
The plate essentially blocks off where the IACV would go into the throttle body and makes it a stand alone unit. It is a block off plate with a hose barb. You would install another barb on your intake manifold (easy to do on a DEK because the manifold is plastic) and route vacuum hose to this.
It would be a lot easier to run the 4th gen ECU and a RPM switch or a VAFC2 than to use the DEK Ecu. This would mean you would be running 4th gen sensors so the car would view the engine as if it was the stock DE. The VAFC2 has an rpm switch designed for operating a Honda's VTEC solenoid, which you can use to flip the DEK's manifold. It also allows you to fool the car's MAF sensor reading in order to tune the air fuel ratio, so you can lean the engine out. The 4th gen ECU + the DEK's injectors would run rich without this adjustment.
