Time for a thread...

So, back in June, I attempted to have a set of JWT cams put in my car. The idiots (Leon Wilson and Nick DeVries @ Random House Racing) did not set the timing correctly and whatever else they touched was either broken or disconnected.

So I had a chance to change my game plan a little bit. Added some DPR Racing Stg4 heads to the mix, nobody has dyno'd these so we'll see what happens. The final setup is...

JWT S1, VQ35 spec - 260/260 10.8/10.8
HR valvesprings/retainers
RevUp oil pump
Heads - ported intake side, polished exhaust side, 5 angle valvejob, modded combustion chambers
NEW everything - all new timing components, water pump, gaskets etc

I have a few things left before the car is actually running as hard as it should. It's still using a JWT intake and stock MAF, I'll be going to a big housing eventually. Car is still on stock ECU.

PICS...

Quick idle video...

More to come...

Exactly what type of modifications were done to the combustion chambers? Did they add some material to up the CR?

Guess I could have read this: http://www.dprracing.com/snissan.htm

If they could only spell Infiniti right ...

Kidding!

This should be fun and interesting. Congrats, you've made it further along than the other two DEK hopefuls of the past 5 years.

Better grab a 3" exhaust before it's too late!

Yeah, Moncef, when you sold me those RevUp cams you said you had other all motor plans, so I was patiently waiting to see what those were. This was well worth the wait. That idle sounds very interesting. I can't wait to see some quantitative results. It looks awesome.

Thanks gentlemen.

Unfortunately I don't have any flow #s. I bought them from someone here on the .Org. They were never installed.

I like the explanation of getting a non stock MAF to work, but why didn't you use an absolute pressure sensor in the intake manifold and delete the MAF all together?

Were you worried about reliability as the temperature fluctuated?

MAF vs. MAP... interesting.

I don't want to build a temp correction map, that would suck these days with it being 50 degrees one day and 23 the next day lol. Plus the MAF isn't really that big of an intake restriction.

Got ya. I thought about trying to delete my MAF but figured the fluctuation in temperature would make tuning it more trouble than it's worth. Once I get my motor in I will be looking at the LRMAF though.

If I were you I'd be looking into intake length tuning now. There was a discussion in the 5th gen section. http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...i-rethink.html

In short, you use acoustic resonance of the intake system to gain some VE.

Yeah, I've done a lot of reading on that. My overall pipe length is significantly longer than my stock MAF/JWT setup I had previously. So that has helped some.

If those numbers were on a dynojet, then that would have been a big disappointment. However since the car was on a dyno-dynamics (aka hearbraker dyno), numbers are pretty decent. It would be interesting however to see what the car makes on a dynojet since those read higher.

Planning on hitting the track anytime soon?
