2k9 TB Adapater Plate

Has anybody developed an adapter plate that will bolt on the 2009 maxima throttle body to older 3.5 liter engines found in 02-08 maximas? The adapter plate should also work on G35s and 350Z.

I'm going to drill one out to make it work. There's enough material there.

The TB neck needs to be bored out a couple millimeters.

Stephenmax would you be able to taper the flange from the 09tb to 3.5 neck, if not I can just bore it out

I would rather just bore out the manifold neck

dont think that would work on a G35/350z. I would need an adapter flange

Subscribed....

I wonder which would be easier... I have a RWD manifold getting modded for FWD use & A FWD 3.5 manifold @ home so I could go either way

So, I finally got the 2k9 TB on my 3.5 hybrid.

I redrilled the bolt pattern to match my '03 UIM inlet then opened up the inlet with a 3" 40 grit flapper wheel. The two bolts that go into the blind holes needed to be shortened since the TB isn't as thick in the bolt mounting area. And I had to re-do all the convert to cable b.s. since the electric motor side is different.

I'll get some more pic tomorrow when I've got some light.

Here's a couple pic of the bore matched:

That TB would be more useful if the OP removed the throttle blade, cut off the upper (unthreaded) half of the shaft, countersunk the blade and screwed some shorter flathead screws into the lower part of the shaft, and pick up about 10% more cross-section area in the bore. IMHO....

I did that to my other car. I'll probably do it to this one but you gotta remember cross section isn't everything.. that plate makes a pretty large boundary layer when fully open and half shafting won't do a whole lot.

True - but it's not laminar flow around the shaft itself - I suspect the blade helps divert the flow, but less cross sectional area in the TB means less flow restriction. Of course the same could be said of most MAFs.... and I always wondered about a wideband sensor sitting in the middle of an exhaust pipe.

It would be nice to have a way to flowbench an entire intake manifold/TB/MAF assembly. Anyway, narrowing a TB shaft is a "can't hurt - might help" mod for anything less than "all the airflow you can get".

So did the adapter plate idea die with this drilling method?

stupid question but what size silicone couplers are you guys using for these 09 tb's?

no way in hell my 3" coupler is gonna fit on there. im about to just use the 4" one and lay a couple rounds of electrical tape around the TB

I'm using a 3.5" coupler.
