Metal in engine oil!!

So i ran into a pretty big problem changing my oil the other day. This was my second oil change on my used 2002 maxima se (144k) and i found some metal pieces and shavings after changing the oil. So im guessing its either from the cylinder walls or piston rings or both. I would think at this point the only thing i can really do are either A. Sell it B. Rebuild it or C. Swap it

What would you guys suggest? I haven't rebuilt a 4 stroke engine before but my friend has and he said he could help me out so I kind of am leaning towards rebuilding. Where would i find a good rebuild kit and where do i find a service manuel for the vq35de?

FSM = http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/
Used engine = http://www.car-part.com/
Rebuild kit = Rockauto/ThePartsBin, etc.

I'd go with option #2.

get a 04-08 3.5L with much less mileage from car-part.com

swap engines reusing your exhaust and intake manifolds on the new block

/thread (unless you're looking for MORE power, then the $$/HP# = the limit)

I like that equation.

And don't forget the timing chain tensioners, if its an 04-08, cheap insurance.
