Ok fellas, NA section is the best place to diagnose this problem. First listen to the noise:


At first i thought it was rod knock, but I was messing with the car again yesterday, the sound is definitely coming out of the head either cylinder 3 or 5. Engine specs are a 3.0 with an SSIM and rev-up cams.

Got any details of how it ran and what you did to it right before this happened? Low oil or something?

 

before this it had a bad timing chain but it just had the occasional timing chain rattle not this noise. It was stumbling, cutting out and running rough before this. Now it has a new timing chain the timing chain rattle is gone and replaced with this noise. and i pulled the covers off and did the timing twice, noise hasnt changed.

 

one time i work on a maxima with similar noise and it was coming from back side bank and i pull off the valve cover and it was a loose cam cap.. dont know why but it loose.. its a start!!

 

I don't know, but i hope you can figure it out man. It's not rod knock I hope. That wouldn't make any sense would it? Maybe like Maxpr0908 said a loose cam cap
