VQ35DE dimensions needed (flywheel/crank to block surface)

Hello all, apologies if this is in the wrong section, didn't think it belonged in the 5th gen area since it's engine specific.

Some backstory, just so this makes sense.

I'm currently building a mid engine RWD space frame project, using a 1990 Mazda 13B NA engine. Goal is to be close to 1500# with driver, 6 speed manual trans, and a rotary redline.

In my search for suitable transmissions I found the 03 Maxima box would do the part well, and had great interchangeability with other MFA60 series transmissions from other vendors.

I have the housing pattern and measurements from the 13B, but I do not have any measurements off of the VQ35DE. Trans came from a yard, and they didn't have the engine sitting around.

What I'm looking for are a few measurements off an engine, to aide in fabricating the adapter plate.

Namely the following:

Protrusion distance of the crank flange from the block, measured relative to the housing mating surface

Thickness of flywheel from clutch surface to crank mating surface

Pressure plate finger to crank mating surface distance. (Wiith disc installed)

If anyone has a set of verniers/dial/digital calipers and/or good micrometer, and can get those dimensions it would be much appreciated.
Tape measure accuracy is too sloppy, but could help for rough work.

I'll still try to get my own measurements, but this will help.

Thanks in advance,

Walt

Best advice would be to download a FSM and flip to section MT and read through it....

I've looked through the FSM, and haven't found the information in it. It's either right under my nose, or buried in another section. I'll keep looking.

The other option is to call around the yards and see if any of them are willing to let me pull the dimensions.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I wouldn't expect to find these measurements in the FSM.

I have a set of digital calipers, albeit cheap ones. But I think I can get you the measurements you need this weekend. I have a couple spare engines and a used 6mt clutch and flywheel that should allow me to get the measurements you need.

Much appreciated, my project is sort of at a standstill for the winter, so don't feel too rushed or anything. Dealing with holidays + new job and all that jazz.

aackshun: Here's the cliff notes.

Protrusion distance of the crank flange from the block, measured relative to the bellhousing mating surface

Thickness of flywheel from clutch surface to crank mating surface

Pressure plate finger to crank mating surface distance. (Wiith disc installed)

schmellyfart: No biggie, I've been wrapped around the axle with holidays and starting the new gig, lovely winter weather, and procuring a winter beater that can take the new commute...
So the project is, quite literally, in cold storage till spring.

Help -Please, I need that info also.......

I am having an adapter made to mate a 13b to a Subaru transaxle. Googled across this thread. It would be REALLY appreciated if someone could offer these measurements. I'm having the same problem.

I'm asking for the VQ35DE dimensions, not the 13B ones.

I don't have all the 13B stuff digitized right now (new job, holidays, parts out getting spray-tanked and painted, winter wonder land...), but I'll try to remember to ping you with what I do end up digitizing.
