I don't think the o2 sensor bungs are positioned correct. And you would probably have to remove some of the cross member.

why couldn't i just weld in a new bung? i'm looking at putting vq35 heads on a vq30 my concern is the exhaust ports are different sizes.

I have a '99 Maxima header set that I've had for, I dunno, 13 years, and the exhaust port sizes and shapes are the same for VQ30, VQ35, 350Z, 350Z Cosworth, and 2012 FX35 HR heads, because I have all those heads..(well, the HR heads are pending completion of the BC 3.8 stroker engine but exhaust ports are the same).. They all use the same exhaust stud general pattern, with maybe the studs moved around on a few ports.

The original 99 headers needed the EGR port welded up because no EGR for me, and I've had the two sides joined with tapered piping merging with a Warpspeed 3" flex/B-pipe/resonator/tailpipe w/3" Flowmaster 50 SUV muffler. 3" cutout, PLX A/F bung, probably other things, but all exhaust head ports are identical.

???

So with a vq35 the egr port needs to be blocked off? Are the lengths the same? I'd be worried about having the thing too short and flex pipe wouldn't fit. I've wondered the same thing. I think I've only seen OBX headers around recently. There are a lot not options for a vq30...

Isn't the egr port on the intake manifold on a vq35 anyways?

When you buy exhaust headers for a " 99 Maxima ", they come with an EGR connection - which I welded shut. With all subsequent 3.5s with aluminum LIMs the EGR inlet is on the bottom of the intake manifold. Dunno about the later 3.5s...

Look at my avatar pix - taken at Heartland Park track, the world's fastest and quickest track (no thanks to me)..

http://heartlandpark.com/

Wait for it !! It's a 1999 Maxima !! Owned it since 1999, raced it since 2004.. OMG, what a money pit !!

All BS aside, I've been doing this for a long time. Made all the mistakes, broke all the parts, had all the fun I could stand, and doing more...

Look here for 2010+ details: https://maxima.org/forums/nitrous/61...out-doing.html

You can weld new bungs on.

I'd be more concerned about the VQ35 combustion chamber on the head being larger than the bore of the VQ30 block. It would be easier, less work, and more power to swap in a VQ35 with VQ30 timing components.

what the intake ports on the vq30 00-01 heads vs the intake ports on the 02-03 vq35 heads? Are those the same? I know the 00-01 VQ30 has the special intake.
