ps2 set up to audio system

I'm connecting a ps2 and a lcd screen in my car. i pull out the center console to hook up the audio. i need help getting the sound from the ps2 to my audio system. I have a sony cd player ( the one that flips down to reveal a face). the lcd screen has an audio 1, audio 2. the cd player has front ,back rca inputs. i tried playing around with it , i do get audio from the ps2 in the car but the radio stations keep playing too. do i need to buy something to make it work or am i just not hooking them up right.

all feed back will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

did you hook the ps2'd audio outputs to the screen or the cd player? If you are playing the sound from the ps2, you will need to switch your cd player to an input mode. just curious, how are you putting in your monitor?

Actually now that i think about it... make sure those RCA plugs in the back are input... Also why do you need the LCD audio plugs?? Connect the PS2 (red/white) cable directly to your Sony reciever. no need to connect it to the lcd first... u just need the video plugged into the LCd

hold on buddyrow..

you have a sony cd player, and bose amps? no that doesnt work im pretty sure

and yeah hook the rca right to the cd player, but you said you have a cassette too, so it either you have a sony cd player, or the bose cd casette deal.

where are you putting the monitor?

they are inputs. i did that, hook up the ps2 rca cables directly to the sony receiver which had 4 inputs plus 2 outputs. the inputs were
L R rear speakers and L R front speakers. when i did that i could hear the ps2 in the car speakers but at the same time the radio stations too. when i gave it volume, the radio station would go up and i would not hear the ps2. what am i doing wrong?

thanks

is there not a source button so you can select which mode you want to use? There should be some kind of input mode where, only the input is played not the radio. (you know, how you switch from cd to radio)

and you still havent answered my question on where are you putting the monitor?

IR wireless remotes for PS2

This is a bit off topic, but did you guys know there are IR wireless remotes for the ps2? Check out ebay. I got one for like 9$. I was about to disassebmle a contorller so I could have dvd navigation..

Also, if you have a Kenwood deck and no cd changer, there is a dongle that you can buy to make the changer input a rca input... for the playstation.

Re: IR wireless remotes for PS2

Yeah there are a few different remotes out for the PS2, Sony even has an "official" one. I don't think they'd be much use in the car though, at least for me. I already have a controller running to the drivers seat and the controller is IR so you have to have the PS2 in front of you for it to work.

Alpine has the same thing as Kenwood in that you can buy a CD Changer input to RCA input adapter. I just installed mine yesterday and it sounds good, especially with DVDs.

I thought about teh ir issue, so I also bought (from the same guy) a set of two extender cables. They were $4.99! This way, I can mount the ir receiver up near the lcd screen nice and neat. This system is really turning out well.

Did I miss something?

Wouldn't an RF modulator work for this situation? Hey, I may have missed something, but that seems to be the simple solution.

Luke, a direct connection into the changer port will yeild a much higher quality audio stream than from the FM radio.

Ahh I see. Beter SQ. Sorry, I'm new at this. I'm planning a similar system with a PS2, so I'll have to keep that in mind. I'm going to have a Sony XAV-7W head unit. I hope it goes in nice.

The Sony one sucks b/c it only works on the PS2, it's big, and it doesn't have a passthrough. Most of the other ones are universal remotes that can run the PS2, as well as a tv, etc...and they have the passthrough, to allow you to have a controller hooked up at the same time as the remotes infared sensor. But if you mount the PS2 in your trunk, a remote won't do you any good.
