when I have my system turned up loud it will be playing fine for a couple of minutes then the volume drops a little a the speakers become a little distorted. I will have to turn it down and then turn back up it will play fine for another couple of minutes. I have the alpine CVA-1000 headunit and a 600w amp w/two "12" subs. If anyone can help with this any info would help.

Sounds like a loose connection or the amp was hooked up wrong. Are you running the same power wire for the deck and amp?

you might have a defective headunit

depends on which speaker gets distorted. if all of them do including the subs, check the speaker connections and if there all good then return the headunit for a new one. is the 4 speakers in the car connected directly to the headunit or is it going truogh an amp? if its just your subs getting distorted then check the connections for the sub and if there all good the return the amp and get a new one
