bose stereo replacement

The bose stereo on my mom's 97 max won't play cd's anymore. I took it apart and tried to clean the lense, but that didn't help. I think this thing is screwed. My mom really likes the stereo how it is, but I told her the easiest and cheapest thing to do in the long run is to just get an aftermarked head unit. I told her that a new one would be able to play cd-r's easier and she seemed to think that was cool. So what I am wondering is if there are kits to hook up to the factory system, because doesn't the bose system have external amps and stuff? Can't you get a wiring harness to attach to all that? Also, it isn't worth getting fixed is it? Well thanks for the input.

Re: bose stereo replacement

I will get an aftermarket one. Maybe one can MP3 files also?

If I remember right, there is an adpater you can get to continue using your Bose speakers with the new head unit. Sorry I forgot the name.
