Is a ported box the same as a bandpass box? if not whats the diff?

 

A ported box pushes bass forward like a sealed enclosure, but you can get more rolling bass from a ported box and some nice loudness, just notice the airflow from the port itself. Sealed is great for tight bass and small enclosures. A 5th order bandpass utilizes 2 chambers and ports trying to harness many qualities. The bass can be thunderous in a bandpass enclosure, but I see it more as a crutch to use when your subs and amps aren't up to the task alone and you need the box to amp up the volume.
