How to upgrade my system for <$500?

I have a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X815 with maximum power 45 wattsX4, high voltage preamp output (4.5V), system E's+, 3 (gold plated) RCA preouts etc. I'm interested in replacing my stock front and rear speakers and getting an amp. Is there anyone out there who can point me in the direction of what I can do for less than $500 bucks? Hopefully, someday I could also upgrade to include DVD and a navigation system. Thanks

A good start would certainly involve replacing the stock speakers. As the rears are less essential to your audio enjoyment, you should focus on the front first by selecting an appropriate quality coax or component set. If you plan to power them with your deck and no external amp, you can get some quality components and rear speakers for 500 easy. If you find some solid deals on components and select a nice 4 channel amp, you may be able to get out with 500 as well. A good setup in your price range would be:

Boston Acoustics RC620 components
Boston Acoustics RM6 Coaxs

+ a nice 4x50 or so amp of your choice.

If you ebay all the pieces you will come out at near 500 for the set and be very pleased. Installing the amp is up to you unless you shell out the 100 for an amp install from a good installer. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I'm selling a 4x50 Kenwood, KAC744. It's an excellant amp and the rear channel is bridgable so you can run the two speakers and the sub.
