Would adding an amplifier to BOSE make a big difference?

?

I just got a different car and it happens to have BOSE, so I am contemplating adding my Zapco amp to it, because the way it sounds is not too bad actually but since i have the equipment already, maybe?

If you're talking about adding an amplifier to the speakers, then I'm pretty sure it can't be done. I just had my entire Bose stereo ripped out and replaced with completely new stuff. Each speaker has it's own separate amp which makes it difficult to add an amplifier to it. I could be wrong here, so correct me if I'm wrong.

yeah
that is what i was talking about.

If it can't be done, then I'm taking the BOSE out.

Does anyone think I can sell the whole BOSE system for a decent price somehow? Anyone try?

It can be done, but you do lose sound quality when doing it. Best bet is to rip out the Blose.

BTW.....I can help

I was told once that the factory bose speakers are 8 Ohm nominal; and therefore, not optimal for your Zapco. It can be done, but you would need to rewire each speaker to bypass the amps.

At that point you are better off just replacing them.

i guess goodbye BOSE

I have a Pioneer 9200 deck, Zapco amp and getting Focal Polyglass or Polykevlar components. But going from the stock ****, Non-Bose stereo i had in the GXE to the SE with BOSE, it sounds a whole lot better.. i don't know how people hate BOSE so much.. it's not that bad to me.. my new stereo better make a tremendous difference to justify the amount of $ i will spend on it..

So how much can i make back by selling the BOSE?

anyone have any luck on selling the entire system?

thank goodness you came to your senses the reason i dont like any factory crap (no matter what brand), is that they use crappy amps, and the crossovers are almost non-existant. i was listening to my dmx cd last night on the infinity in my parents intrepid, and i would have sworn there were no crossovers on anything, the way they were resonating...it wasnt the door panels either--it was the 2.5" coax's in the sails, and the 3.5" in the dash

i dont care for the bose, or monsoon, or any of that crap...its a feeble attempt to take your money and brainwash you about sound quality

I too replaced my Bose system (2001 SE) with some Focals and a Soundstream amp. It really only makes a HUGE difference when I play it loud. At moderate levels the Bose wasn't that bad.

Just curious, but how many people are changing out the stock headunit in these cars. I've been real reluctant to just because i haven't seen a adapter that I like and I want it to look as stock as possible.

that is what i am talking about
I can't justify a small difference in sound with over 1,500$ of stereo equipment
i am still going to do it since i already have half of the stuff
