non Bose to Bose in a 4th gen

tried searching -- only info for 5thgens on this...

I want to upgrade the non-Bose stereo in my max to the Bose cd/tape player..

I have a few questions for people that have done this install ---

1) Can I just get the Bose head unit and the bose speakers, pop them in, and I am good to go?

Basically I want the factroy Bose system in my 96. I just want to know any weird random things i need to know before undertaking this.

Thanks for the help

I belive 4th gen bose is amplified at each speaker Or amplfiers in the rear of the car under the rear decklid. So you would need Bose stereo..Bose speakers..and Bose amps..and all the wiring/harnesses inbetween. Translates into ALOT of work..for a system that is just OKay..especially if your getting used speakers they'll be atleast 2-3 years old. Theyre only made out of paper so if you can imagine construction paper after 3 years. Its not that great. Your money would be better spent on an complete aftermarket system. Unless you like the look of a bose headunit or any other reasons.

Half of the Bose systems I've heard of, between friends and in the .org, all talk about which part of their system went out first. SUre you could put it in, but the question isn't if you will have to replace it but how long it will be before it stops working and which part first.
In professional stage audio there is a saying, and no I did not make it up.
"If you don't like highs and you don't like lows, then get a bose."

You could do it. But a better way of doing it is to change the head unit to the Bose unit, buy a adapter, converter (audiolink), and a seperate aftermarket amplifier. Or, if you really want to change it all over to the Bose crap, visit the audiolink web page. They sell everything you need.
