I didn't want the typical box install...I wanted it stealth and functional. Fiberglass enclosure in the spare tire well was the way to go.
Let me know what ya think guys.

Spare Tire?

What about the spare tire? I was thinking of putting my 12" in the tire well, but I was discouraged by my friends because I would lose the donut. Is it safe to be driving around without it?

Safe? Well sure its safe. The problem would be if you did get a flat tire what do you do. In the city its no problem just call CAA or call someone at home to bring you the space and jack. No big deal.
But if I was going to take a longer trip say out to my cottage I would just chuck the tire and jack in a bag and put them right in the trunk for the drive.

This is a small draw back to this install. But I do have a full trunk that is functional for everyday use.

I remember a day a couple weeks a go when a driver had a flat. He called AAA. 8 hours later he asked the officer if they could give him a ride to a hotel. 45 minutes is the bare minimum in the DC metro region. That's if the driver was following you when you broke down. Average is probably closer to 2-3 hours. Then you have to pay them for a new tire and the tow . . .

Good clean looking install. I am planning on doing a stealth install on my 01 Max, but using the Wheel well instad of the spare tire area just so I don't loose my spare. Scares me too much to be without it. Where did you pick up that carpet, looks like a good match?

That trunk install sure looks clean. Interesting choice to put the xovers in the glove box. It looks nice...although I personally coudn't stand losing that for storage space, mine's crammed full.

Good job!

First I had bought this carpet for like $16 a yard canadian and it was very light...but I couldn't find anything else. I put it in and of course 2 days later I go to this shady electronics store in a back of a dark alley and found that. It matches almost perfectly and it was like 6 bucks a yard.

Ripped all that other crap out ...hucked it into da woods and redid it.

I'm not too sure what you mean..around the sub. Are you refering to the box its sitting in? or around where the fake floor is.

There is no spare or a door. I removed the spare tire and created a fiberglass enclosure within the tire well. It is made to about 1/4 of the size of the well. 2.3 cubic feet is around the whole size of it, so for the solobaric I wanted 1 cf.

For the wood I used mostly MDF. My install is infact 2 false floors. 1 right ontop of the metal of the car which supports amps, relays, caps. Ontop of that is just pine wood in strips, then final floor with hole cutouts.

and... ZAPCO OWNZ
