Should I buy a Cap or an Optima battery?

I have a 2k2 SE and my sound system consists of:

-1 Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1
-Rockford Fosgate 275watt amp
-4 Infinity Kappa 62.1i 6.5" speakers
and I'm planning on buying a 4 channel amp and a JL 500/1 amp in the near future. I also have a StreetGlow gold series underbody kit with 6 neons.

Ive noticed that my interior lights are dimming when I turn up the bass so I was thinking of getting either an Optima Yellow Top or a 1 Farad Capacitor. I can get the battery new for $190CAD taxes in. As for the cap, on ebay they sell for around $100US new. Which do you think would be best and most cost effective for me to buy?

Get the battery first....the cap only stores the power to distribute it, the battery helps generate.

Thanks for replying. Which do you think would be better for my use, a red or a yellow top battery?

Red had mor cranking power.. But for ppl with alotta accessories I would get the Yellow since it hold more reserve... I have the Yellow myself with, 1 jl 350 and 500 amps.. 3 10" subs.. No dimming here either.. And I don't have a cap either..

another thing to make sure of, is that the wire is big enough going to your amp. not just the positive either. the amp to ground wire is important too. it should be the same size as the power wire. also, the battery to ground, battery to alt, and alt to ground wires should all be upgraded to 1 size bigger than the amp power wire (4 gauge amp + and -, means 2 gauge for the main wires) cuz they have to take care of your audio, plus current for the rest of the car.

ill tell you from my experience and you can judge from there.
btw, my car is crashed so its not setup anymore, but i still have the parts. I am trying to sell them too. i have to make this quick so im not late for work though. email me.

i had my JL300/4 pushing (2) Infinity 10" references. i used to have a Bazooka EL1500 (500watts @2ohms). with the bazooka i would have dimming problems when i really cranked it. but with the jl i would have them somewhat sooner and i would blow fuses like crazy. i went through 3 fuses in 5 mins and wasnt playing that loud (30amp fuses btw.). anyway i got a stinger cap used and hooked it up (right after i blew the fuses so quickly, i was at a friends showing my stereo). after i hooked up the cap i didnt have any problems at all!!! my lights didnt dim and i didnt blow a fuse and i was pushing it farther than i did with the bazooka. btw the 300watts from the JL was better sounding and louder than the 500 from the bazooka just fyi.

i was using the jl in that setup temp. because i was waiting to buy a sub amp.

just my story. btw i was running a Kirkland Signature (costco) battery. i believe it was 675CCA's.

off to work

I recently replaced my battery. I think the one i got was the exide battery from bj's with over 1000 cca. Problem: lights dimming still. I added a brax 1 farad cap and my lights no longer dim. My system consists of brax x2000 amp and 2 adire audio shivas. That is about 1200 watts.

I'd say get both the Optima and a 1 farad cap, especially since you have plans to upgrade your system later on.
