illumination wire

i have a sony cdx-m730 headunit and it has a 'illumination wire' to be connected. though the unit has power and opens (also takes in and ejects cds) none of the words can be seen on the led display on either the face or the part that folds down. is this related to the illumination wire or is my headunit messed up? also, which color wire do i connect the illumination wire from the headunit to? what color is it? thanks for any help.

All the illumination wire does, is turns the light on the head when it's off, and the headlights are on. If your display isn't showing anything, then it's a problem with the headunit. Bassicaly, the illumination, is the least nessesary wire on the head.
