i'm trying to upgrade my system in my 99 se and i was wondering if you guys have any suggestions

i have a non bose stock cd/cass, and i just replaced the four speakers with brand new infiniti speakers 90W each,
i believe that my HU is only 100W so it doesnt sound that good...
i'm thinking of adding a sony xplod 4/75W amp for my speakers, what do you guys think, do i need a stronger amp? or 4/75 is enough? and also is it worth it? any other ideas?

4x75 is great, but you can do better than a Sony amp, there are much better brands out there. As for it being worth it, what is your problem with your setup now? Do you have a sub? Infinity speakers don't have much bass at all. If you don't have a sub you'd be better off putting $ towards that instead.

 

You could get a 4 channel amp. Power the front two speakers with two channels and bridge the other two into a sub.

 

is it possible to power the front ones with two channels and use one channel for the two speakers in the back, and use just one channel for the sub?

 

after some advice i decided not to buy the 4 channel amp for the speakers, but to get the infinity BASSLINK first since i can get a really good deal on it, but i'm still worried about my HU because its just a stock and it puts out only 25W/speaker and speakers are 90W so right now it sounds pretty crappy and i dont know if its gonna change a lot after adding the basslink, if it doesnt which do u guys think is better in terms of cost/benefit:

adding a 4 channel amp for the speakers
or
replacing the stock HU with a better on like 52W x 4 ???

I'm an amp advocate. If you can afford it, always get an amp over the high power head units (or with a new high power head unit). The 45 x 4 and 52 x 4 usually only put out 22 to 25 watts RMS. Even your smaller amps will usually put out at least 35x4 RMS giving you a crisper, usually cleaner sound...an at lower volumes. If you don't play your music really loud, you'd be okay with a high power head unit alone. But if you play it loud, get an amp. Remember, it's distortion that blows speakers & the harder your low power amps (or head units) have to work to play the music loud, the more distortion you get.

If you don't want to buy a new head unit (I would recommend one though if you have the $$ because they come with really cool features), you can buy an amp with speaker lever inputs and hook your factory HU up to it. That way you get high power, quality sound to your speakers through your amp and you save $$.
