2003 Bose with ODO Computer
2003 Bose with ODO Computer
Wondering if the experts can help. I just recently removed the Bose Sound system (paid extra $1000) but it sounded like S**T.... I had a pioneer deck and couple of amps, and some other stuff... that doesn't matter.
What really bothers me is that the remote that's mounted on the steering wheel it's not going to function. Does any one know if they make an after market Data to IR converter???
Also what is intresting is that the onboard trip computer that calculates the DTE and M.P.G as well as avg. speed and time ... is built into the new Radio. Does any one know if I can take that circuit out or is there something aftermarket that will solve this problem.
Any kind of help is appreciated.

How to make steering wheel controls work, 5th gen and aftermarket headunit.
Ok here it goes...The steering wheel controls can be utilized through the use of a PAC SWI adapter. They are sold through crutchfield (and maybe other mobile electronic stores). As far the the trip odo, you have to ground a wire to make it work. In the small wiring harness that you removed from the lower section of the stock deck, there are four wires. Included in those wires, there is a brown wire with a white stripe/marking. This wire has to be cut and and stripped. Then this wire must be grounded, I suggest the large metal piece under the vents, however any grounding site will work. You will then have use of the trip odo, and the steering wheel controls.
***Moderators, can we make this a sticky in the FAQ's, I am kinda tired of repeating this explanation.

Do you know where I can get this in CANADA???? Or perhaps a website that will ship it.
Brown wire with a white stripe/marking. This wire has to be cut and and stripped.
That's EASY enough!!!! Thank you.
I appreciate all the help. Thanks Man.

You can get any of the PAC products through me, and yes I ship to Canada all the time. I sell the PAC products for well below the market price to you fellow Maxima owners. send me an email and I'll get you a quote on that SWI adaptor you need.
