Bose radio/cd replacement
Bose radio/cd replacement
Has anyone tried to replace their Bose deck from a 97 Maxima with the Bose deck from a 2000 Maxima? From the photos that I have seen of the two units the connections look almost identical, and the deck itself appears to be the same size so it should fit. However, the 2000 Bose seems to have an amp built into the deck (I verified this by contacting my local Nissan parts/service department) where as the 97 Bose's amp is seperate. Will this cause a problem with the two amps connected to the deck?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You'll have to bypass the amps at the speaker, a bit of a funky re-wiring job. Why not just get a 99 Bose HU?? They look the coolest of the 95-99 Maximas. The only advantage to the 5th gen Bose HU is the reently available in-dash 6 CD changer unit, and that won't fit. Otherwise, the featureset is pretty much identical(the 5th gen Bose sub-woofer is apparently nothing to rave about) when comparing the 5th gen Bose to 4th gen.

Re: Bose radio/cd replacement
Thanks for the reply. I was going with the 2000 head unit b/c it was cheaper and also newer (I don't trust the CD mechanism in the 97).
I have not seen a 99 head unit for sale yet. If you know of a place or website where a 99 HU might be available please let me know.
Thanks again for the help.
