disc load problems: Sony ES 910
disc load problems: Sony ES 910
I'm having problems with my (new to me) Sony Mobile ES CDX-C910 cd headunit. In the hot afternoon the display slides down and loads the disc perfectly, in the cold morning it takes the disc in, makes a "GZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" sound and ejects it, after like 20 times doing this (the player warms up
) it will eventually GZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ*click* and take the CD.
I don't really want to send this into sony because I'm sure it'll cost more than I paid for it to fix. Does anyone know of a cheap fix or hack to get my deck to load again? is it something inside that expands in the cold and keeps it from loading?
Stupid Sony, my old headunit couldn't load discs right either and the $5000 DV deck I'm using at school can't load tapes, maybe they should work on whatever they use to load media
Another quick fix might be to buy a cheap unilink changer off ebay but then I lose the good sound quality of the internal cd player.
thanks in advance

Just a complete guess here, but maybe there's some gooey stuff in there that gets harder the colder it gets. Since there's no warranty, you won't have to worry if you take the chasis apart. But, then again, you may mess it up even worse...

My m750 did this too, started doing it only six months after getting it. I was lucky enough to have a repair center by me so I took it there. The problem was fixed for about 1-2 weeks and then came back full force. I went back to the stereo shop I got the player from and they gave me full credit for the player cause I thought it was a defect, but it looks like more models have this too. If you keep the player you can try heating up the CD, when it was cold and I had my heater on I would hold the CD infront of the vents and sometimes it worked after it was warm enough.

if I could return the player or have it fixed under warranty I would but it's about 4 years old or so and I bought it used, so no cheap way to do that.
stupid sony.

Thanks, I managed to get a sony 10 disc changer + cables for $65 so I'm just going to use that in the morning I guess, but then I miss out on the nice DACs in the 910, oh well.
