96 SE w/ Bose system - quit working?
96 SE w/ Bose system - quit working?
My 96 SE is equiped with the Bose AM/FM CD/Cassette unit and has serve me well up until last weekend when it decided to quit working.
There are no blown fuses or any trace of a problem outside of the stereo system.
The only thing that the stereo has ever given me a problem with is switching from the radio to CD to Cassette or pushing the power button. Every once and a while these buttons will be hard to push, but I would usually just have to push on the buttom firmly and it would work.
I am wondering if it is possible that the POWER button is stuck down inside unit and this is not allowing me to power up the radio / CD / Cass.
How can I take this unit out of my dash? and disassemble the front of radio to free up button (if this is my problem)?????

Try this trick... disconnect negative terminal of battery for maybe 15 mins & reconnect. This worked for some guys (me included). Also, to alleviate this problem, I've found that it is better to never, ever use the power off button on your Bose!!! Just switch off ignition, say your favourite prayer, or perform any good luck ritual and leave the car quietly

Don't ask why....seems to be an added Bose feature as our cars get older. Don't be alarmed if your CD pukes in the near future, you'll be joining a whole other bunch of 4th gen Bose members
