Anyone has 12" Kicker CompVR for sale?
The comp VR's cannot handle alot of power nor can they go as deep or sound as clean as lets say rockford or Eclipse or JL's. I did have the VR's before they were released(dealer hook up
), but that lasted for less than a month. I then went with 3 12" jl's, then 3 10' JL's then One 12" Eclipse DVC aluminum and most recently 2 rockford 12's.
And after all that i decided to tone it down and get a JL Stealth Box(single 10w6)

very surprised to hear that, but I do not intend to have a lot of bass in my car. All I want is one 12" in a sealed enclosure, to be run by my entry-level amp (170 rms to the sub). So, Kicker Comp VR is not a good choice?
how about Alpine Type R? RF is kind of a Best Buy brand, so I intended to stay away from that.

I don't think you are being fair to the Comp VRs. The Comp VRs can be had for around $100 each. JLs, Eclipse Aluminum, and some Rockford subs are more expensive. For the money, the Comp VR is a good choice IMO. As far as power handling goes they're rated at 400 RMS which is great for that price.

Alpine Type R is also a good choice, the ones I've seen go for a little more than a Comp VR. From what I've heard the Type R will sound better. I heard the Comp VRs in a ported box and the Type R in a sealed so it isn't a direct comparison though. If you don't care about looks you can get an Adire Shiva for $125 shipped. Looks plain but will do a lot with the power that you'll be giving it. Another sub I like in this price range is the Image Dynamics IDQ. Not as loud as the others but it sounds great. If you get one of those four I don't think you'll be dissapointed. As for RF, to me their subs are below average now. I think that any of the subs I mentioned would sound better than anything from RF's current line.

I found Kicker CompVR on the internet brand new for 102 shipped. Alpine Type R is $10 more. Many ppl are telling me good things about Shiva, but it is 8 ohm DVC, it will only get 120w rms from my amp, not a lot. As fas as IDQ, I believe they would also require more power. My two choices now either Kicker or Alpine.

BTW I dropped their line quite awhile back, because of just the same reasons.
Yeah, I wish the Shiva was offered in a DVC 4. As for the IDQ, your info is incorrect. The IDQs do just fine with minimal power. Its actually rated lower than the Comp VR. If I were you, I'd spend the extra $10 and pickup the Type R. Kicker is definately more of a SPL brand, so if you're going with minimal power and a small sealed box, the Alpine seems better suited for you.
