pioneer head units...long

i have been reading here for a few months and finally decided to make my first post. i drive a 97 gle. i was wanting to upgrade the stereo system, but have no idea what is good, and what isn't. i am looking at thisheadunits . is this a good unit? my dash is the wood grain, with the double din bose unit. how would this look with a single din headunit? i am also planning on going with some 12" jl subs. how are these? sorry for all of the questions, and thanks to all for helping out a newbie

pioneers make good head, but go with the premier line. You will need some sort of an adapter to make your speakers work with the head.

Thats an excelent reciever. I feel that pioneer makes some of the best headunits out there. I also like kenwood and alpines. I have a pioneer myself and i love it. You will need an adapter b/c you have the bose system in the gle. Just go to a local shop or look at crutchfield.com they should have an adapter.
JL is a good choice of subs. Also you can look into kicker, polk, audiobahn, JBL. Just some subs i've had good experience wiht.

this is an excellent choice. I have one of those, but Premier DEH 840MP. I can also tell you how to save on this unit over $150. Go to yahoo shopping, and just type in the name of the unit. My unit cost me only 370 shipped to my door, and elsewhere its at least $550.

thanks for all the help guys. i am still undecided about the headunit, but i am now thinking about subs. if you could get 2 jl 12's or 1 brahma 15, which one would you get? i have heard good things about both, but i would like good sound, and good bass. 2 12's and the 1 15 are close in price, but which would be the best? thanks for all your help

I would personally go with the 2 JL 12's. I would think that brahma is a more spl related sub. JL's sound really great and get pretty loud. Kinda a mix betweet spl and sq. Look into the new W6 lineup of JL subs. Very nice looking subs.
