How does this system look?

1 300/2 JL Audio 300watt 2 Channel Amplifier $329.99

2 S12L7 Kicker Titanium 12" 1500 Watt L7 Square Subwoofer $479.98

1 PSD216 MB Quart 2-Way 6.5" Premium Component Set $259.99 $259.99

1 1000/1 JL Audio WOW It's Finally Here 1000watt MonoBlock Amplifier $849.99

comes out to $1948.95 shipped.

I know I can find better prices most likely somewhere else, but just wanted to get a general idea of what I want to get. Did I overkill on the 1000/1 JL amp? Also, how are Kickers compared to JL 12 W3v2s? I was thinking if I got a less expensive amp I could go with 2 JL w6's instead of the Kickers.

Not bad, but you are definetly paying way more than you should be.

you think I should get a less expensive amp and maybe upgrade the subs? Or are Kickers pretty good?

Looks fine...Don't listen to the other guy that said lower the amp and raise the sub...Thats common bad thinking...YOu want good balance...It's a good start.

After thinking a bit, I think the JL amp is a bit too pricey for me.

Been looking at the JBL BP-1200.1 amp. Its less and I could use the extra money for other stuff.....

Would there be a big tradeoff between the two amps running on the kickers?

Stick with the L7's good all around the w3's tend to be inacurate.

Oh yea, max'n you said the JBL was crap, but I've heard many people say it hits pretty hard and is decent.

Anyone else got any opinions on the JBL 1200.1 ?

The JBL is a great amp. It is made for pure power. It doesn't put out full power at 4 ohms like the JL 1000 would, but if you get two 4 ohm DVC subs then you'll get full power out of the JBL which is over 1300 watts. The only thing I really don't like about my JBL is the lack of a subsonic filter. You can get some in line subsonic filters for around $40 or just buy a nice EQ with one built in. With the $500 you save you could buy better subs or better components. Think about it, you can have two Brahma 12s & the JBL for much less or even two JL w7s! Most of the people who talk bad about the JBL amps have never owned one. They're very inexpensive, put out tons of power, are 1 ohm stable, stay extremely cool, and are built well.

my friend has 2 12 inch old JL W3 version powered by a 500/1 JL amp..

these things hit hard as hell. I mean hard enough to make it so you can't breathe. He has them in the back of his 99 Isuzu Rodeo.

If I got the JL 1000.1 Amp with the new W3 v2's, in the trunk of my 2002 maxima would they be as loud or louder than my friends?

Ask Don (Pearl96Max) about the prices of those amps. He might be able to get them cheaper, and you'll get a warranty. Since you said the total SHIPPED, I'm assuming you're getting them online. If you buy JL Audio amps online, you won't get a warranty on them.

Later,
-Nick

I've got 4 JBL amps in the car. One of them is the 1200.1 running 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect 12"s. The amp does put out a lot of power, the subs sound nice. But to me, all decent amps sound pretty good on subs. As long as it puts out it's rated power cleanly, then it's fine and the JBL amp does that.
