Our secretary parked beside me today. She has a 2k1 GLE, and as I walked to the back of my car, I noticed that she had a BOSE system. I asked her if I could borrow her keys to make a comparison to the BOSE System in my SE.

I used the same CD in both cars, and adjusted both to the flat position, and I also played with the controls.

The system in the 2k1 was noticeably better . . . clears were much more clear . . . and louder. Most noticeable was the definition - a very well defined system in the 2k1 as compared to the system in the 2k2.

I noticed that the 2k1 system was much easier on the ears, and did not sound "muddy" or "muffled" as my system sounds.

The 2k2 system did have better bass, but at the expense of a constantly disturbing rear deck "buzz."

The 2k1 did not have the steering wheel controls that I have come to like, nor did it have the SCV, which I have turned off.

Conclusion??? We that have the BOSE system in our 2k2/3 Maximas have been fu(ked!

The bose altogether is a rip. I made sure mine wasn't bose when I bought it. The name means nothing really, there are great JL subs and not so great ones, it's all price variance. The bose in the Lexus SC300 my uncle drives is super sweet, but take the opportunity to jack all that garbage out and go custom, you'll never go back.
