Question for Passport Radar Detector Users
Question for Passport Radar Detector Users
I have the passport 7500 and i was wondering what the display looks like if a LASER LIDAR beam from a cop is pointed at the car. Right now, after using the detector for 5 months i have yet to see a L on the display or anything of the sort. I've seen X, K, and Ka multiple times but after reading the Online Manual for the device, it says the distance for all of the bands and lists X, K, Ka, and Laser. I now assume that i was wrong saying that Ka and laser are one in the same. Has anyone ever seen anything other than X, K, and Ka? Thanks!

BTW, all bands are totally different from each other, so the young man assuming Ka and Laser/Lidar are the same is incorrect.
I have an 8500 Also
When I get pegged with LASER, the display says "LASER" with a warning tone. Whoever it was that says it displays Ka when it is radar is obviously not getting pegged by laser, but by actual Ka. You probably haven't been pegged with Laser yet because it is still very uncommon and a lot of police departments can't afford the more expensive laser technology. I have only been pegged a handful of times. It has also been by the same vehicle each time I got pegged, a green blazer that the local department uses. Two of my friends have the 7500, so I will ask them what they say about it, and will repost when they tell me.
