How to Tapp into a speaker wire?
So when you guys tapp into a speaker wire, to convert it to RCA or plugin directly to the high level inputs on the amp, what gauge speaker wires do you use to tapp into the factory speaker wires? factory speaker wires are pretty skinny, like 24 or 22 gauge?? if you are running 300 watt system , does it matter what gauge wire you use to tapp into the factory speaker wires? the biggger the better??

If your running 300 watts or so, I would avoid using speaker level inputs. Your sound will not be as "clean" as compared to using RCA's. Furthermore, you may run into a problem of "noise" entering your system because of the speakers being used as the level inputs. Use the low level inputs (RCA) if you can.

Another suggestion you can try is an adapter they sell at Crutchfield.com. It's an adapter where you use your speaker outputs as a low level input which have RCA's (on the adapter). This adapter is useful for headunits that don't have the RCA's outputs.

PLEASE READ THIS
After having the Speaker Level ---> RCA Outs, and then buying a real deck (Kenwood Excelon 759) and using the RCA Outs. NEVER, EVER, do the speaker line imput. Your bass will sound sloppy and distorted. And your gains will have to be set to the max.
Take it form years of expirience, it is not worth the trouble.
If your located in CT, I can even help you out.
