keyless entry install instructions needed

keyless entry install instructions needed

does any one have any directions on hooking up a viper alarm's keyless entry wires.. i have a 96 gxe with out the CC package. ive hooked up the alarm and now all i need to do is run the wires for the keyless... but im confused as to what wires i need to tape into and where they are located. the old after market alarm that was in my car had wired them directily to the driver side controls on the door... please help

Come on 13 looks and not one of you left me a clue.. ya i already did a search.. the only thinks helpfull was a chart of what color the wires are... some one has to know about installing a keyless entrie..

To open all the doors at the same time, your aftermarket alarm must have a "double-pulse" generator. What this does is give the power locks a double pulse to open all four doors at the same time. Without it, only the driver's side door would open. The wires you tap in are in the driver's door circuit. The "unlock" wire to tap in is the green wire with yellow tracer. The "lock" wire is light green with a red tracer. If the alarm came with a pulse generator, then it should have the instructions in going about how to install. All you need is to hook up the factory unluck and lock wires as previously described. Good luck!

does it mater that my maxima did not have the CC package. and that i dont have the factory alarm option...

No, it doesn't matter. In fact, my car is the basic GXE model, and all the wiring is the same throughout the 4th gener's.

I wired up my Viper alarm to my car myself, so I have a foot to stand on when I write this. When you wire up the keyless entry, your keyless entry remotes will open all the doors at once. There will not be any progressive unlocking (i.e. the driver's door first and all other doors if the button is pressed again). But MIXXMAX is right, you will have to run 2 wires into the driver's door. Also, there is no room in the factory grommet to run wires in it, so you'll have to drill a hole in the cabin-side of the car.

Here's what you'll need:
1/4" drill bit
8mm, 10mm, and 12mm socket set with wrench
flat and phillips screwdriver
6' 14-22 guage wire with 2 conductors (don't use speaker wire)
1/4" rubber sleeve (you can get it at an electronics surplus store or home depot)
1/4" grommet (get it same places as rubber sleeve)
some time and patience

Here's how to do it:
1. Remove the trim by the side of the driver's seat (it only gets in the way if you don't).
2. Remove the driver's side kick panel.
3. Remove the sticky-taped pad from the driver's side wall (to the immediate left of the clutch area on the outside wall).
4. You should see 2 screws on a black or gold bracket, remove them.
5. That bracket has 1 or 2 relays attached to it, just move it out of the way.
6. Get a drill (probably a 1/4" or so) and drill your hole.
7. Insert a rubber (1/4" or so) sleeve about 6-8" long.
8. From the outside of the car (sit between the door and the car), insert a 1/4" grommet onto the tube and push it into place.
9. Now, for the driver's door, go the easy route. Make a small hole in the bottom corner of the grommet where the factory wires enter the door. There is room in the rubber to do so.
10. Insert the rubber sleeve in that hole. Be sure to insert about 2-3" worth to avoid any accidental wires coming out.
11. Run your wire from the cabin (into the sleeve) and into the door.
12. In order to locate the wire in the door, remove the door paneling and the speaker.
13. Insert your hands through the hole where the speaker was and find your wire. Pull it to you.
14. The connector that you are looking for is down to the bottom-left of the door (directly below the lock). You'll see a little connector there with the wire colors mentioned above. Tap them using 3M connectors.
15. Wire up the other end of the wire to your Viper and program it to "double pulse" unlock.
16. Test it out.
17. Reassemble everything and enjoy.
