I am in the process of hooking up my JL 12W0 and my Rockford Fosgate amp. I have all the wiring connected but there is no sound coming from the sub. The LED on the amp isn't on, so I think I attached the turn-on lead to the wrong wire at the back of my non-bose head unit. I spliced the turn-on wire to a blue wire at the back of the head unit, but there is another blue/silver wire. Can someone help me find the right wire to splice into for the turn-on lead? Are there any pictures that can help. Thanks.

The amp light isnt on b/c the remote isnt hooked up. You need to find it. Pull the HU out and turn on the acc or turn the car on. Get a light probe or a volt meter and test the wires behind to see which has a current, then turn the car off and make sure the current is off. You dont need you amp to be on or you'll drain the battery. Usually the remote wires are blue. Make sure you dont tap into the constant power wire behind the HU.

Which wires behind the head unit are for the line level converter? Should the wires be exactly the same wires going to the 6x9 rear deck speakers?

When you use the linr converter, there are 4 wires, a pos adn neg for the left side adn a pos and neg for the right side. You need to tap those into the rear speaker outputs, they each too have a pos adn neg for each channel. THat is how you would do that. You can also tap them from the rear line where the rear speakers are. You dont have to tap them in behind the HU, you can also use the rear speaker wires.

Thanks so much for the help Synki. The problem was the ground wire. I now moved the ground to another spot and everything works fine. I connected the turn-on lead to the 12volt ignition wire behind the head unit and when I turn the key to the first position the amp turns on. Is this okay since the amp might drain the battery. I thought this would be better because I wasn't sure if the amp would turn on if I spliced into the power antenna wire and had a CD in.

does the antenna go down when you turn to CD? if so, then you're right- it'll shut off the amp when you switch to Cd.

if the antenna stays up the whold tiem the radio is on, then you can switch to that wire..
I would recommend using one that only comes on when the head unit is on, as turning on an amp with no signal going to it will cause the speakers to pop when you turn the head unit on and off.. it could possibly damage the speakers and/or amp.

if you're got a multimeter or test light, hook it up to the wires coming out of the back of the head unit and find one that outputs +12V when the radio is on. sometimes they're blue, sometimes they're orange. wish I had the wiring codes for your car, so I could tell you definitely which wire it is..
good luck.

Matt93GXE, you got a good point there. I just printed out the wiring harness diagrams and will attach the lead to the amplifier turn-on wire or to another wire that comes on when the head unit is on.
