anyone familiar with Ford MACH 460 system...help??

Ok, My buddy has a 2k1 Mustang with the MACH 460 system. It is set up similar to the bose systems in maximas(head unit is not amplified, separate amplifiers for the speakers). Anyway, we tried to hook up an amp and some subs using the same line-level converter that I use on my BOSE unit. It doesn't work though. We need to max the gain on the amplifier just to barely get anything out of the speakers. Does anyone know much about these ford systems and how to hook up an aftermarket amp??? Please, help if you can.

Use the Line out converter in teh rear of the car..there should be subwoofers on the back deck...also a plug right under it..near the rear of the seats..1 plug 4 wires. two of thoes are speaker level which are also subwoofer frequencies.

wrong!!

the only place you can get a solid signal would be at the factory amp. I belive this can be found in the trunk on the rear deck lid.
I have installed new radio's using the Mach460 system a million times, and everytime i have to rewire the entire car to get the best souns outta the system. Make sur eyour not tapping into a tweeter line instead of a mid-bass line.

theres no "sub woofer" on the back deck, just two 6x8's and a pair of tweeters! the 6x8's are crossed over at lower frequencies, so i guess you could tap those or just go to the amp.
