get him to your house and show him ikesound.com and the price of a new 12" perfect and tell him to beat that price.
then buy it b/c its a great sounding sub.
As for an amp, go with a jbl bp600.1. bout 200 bucks and puts out 300 watts at 4 ohms. and if you ever add another sub you will double your power of your amp to 600 watts.
then buy it b/c its a great sounding sub.

I had one for quite a while.. I thought it did great on just 150w.. wonderful sound, but didn't go terribly low, and wasn't punchy enough for my taste..

Anyways, I'm currently running 2 12s in a large sealed enclosure (about 3.2 cu. ft.). Each sub is seeing about 500W, well not really, cause rarely will I be blasting it all that loud, but the sub has great low end extension, and doesnt lose too much 'oomph' higher up in the freqs. I'm really happy with them, just not happy with my enclosure! Gonna go for show, no matter at what the cost (in extra weight) is going to be!
