w7 or 2 w3v2s?
Well, im changing my current cerwin vega setup to JLs
now im stuck between the w7 and w3
I can either get 1 10" w7 or 2 12" W3v2's
What do you guys think will sound nicer, hit harder, and not distort as much?
thanks

Or, for less money you could get one or two Brahma's. My personal choice for excellent SQ on a budget less than what NASA has available.
Of the choice's you listed the W3's will most likely hit harder because they win the displacement war. But the W7 is the undisputed SQ champ. But be warned, if you want SPL don't get something like the W7 or Brahma. You could very easilly damage your hearing without knowing. They are so clean that you will not hear distortion which makes up most of the sound we have associated with sub bass for every year prior to 2002. Which means that you will feel them but not hear them.

personally from ecperience, i'd go with jl w6v2's. the sound the best for your money. I have 2 12" w3's and they hit, but it isn't loud. I listen to a lot of stuff, and the w3v2's barely sound diff. from the old w3, only difference is that they got rid of the dust cap and raise the cone and it will take 50 more watts. my friend has 2 w7 12's and it hits, but it isn't worth the money you pay. But i heard 1 12" w6v2 in a slot ported box, and i swore it was louder than my 2 12's. and for 350 dollars ain't bad.( i dunno how much they retail for, but that is how much i get them for)

Dang you dug that one up. As you can see if you go to RC's charts it's possible to push a sub to very respectable SPL's with just a few watts. I think it was about 100 dB's in car with 1 watt RMS. To double our impression of volume takes a ten fold increase in power. So 10 watts would be about 110 dB, 100 watts for 120, 1000 watts for 130, etc until you get to the point where the speaker is no longer linear.
Also, SPL is dependant on the enclosure and install more than the sub or amps you choose.
