Poor Reception - RESOLVED

I think I fixed my radio reception problem tonight! Originally I was using the ground wire in my wiring harness for the ground on my head unit (which I have done on every car I installed and never had a problem).

Anyway, I unplugged my antenna and my radio shut off. This lead me to believe it was getting a ground through the antenna. I wired the stereo ground to the chassis and the reception improved 100%. I don't know if this is an obvious solution but it wasn't for me. I think it may have something to do with the Bose system. Anyway, if you've tried the below steps and still have problems..try this .

I'm starting a new thread because the other one seems to have died.

I am having a radio reception problem with my Kenwood X859 radio. I do have the blue/white antenna turn on lead connected and I am using the diversity antenna adapter.

Just to be sure, I checked with Metra and it is the 40-NI10 that is required for the Nissan Diversity Antenna (NOT this one 40-NI20. I happen to have the Scosche NDA which is the same thing. I'm wondering if the Metra is better because my reception sucks.

I have done a search and not yielded the results I was looking for. Does anyone have similar problems or had similar problems and was able to fix them?

BTW, satellite is not an option since I only drive the car 1-2 days a week.

Thanks!

Sorry, 2k3 - 5th Gen with Bose. Every owners manual for every stereo I've ever bought has said to ground the radio to bear metal. I never saw the need as I always used the ground in the factory wiring harness with no problem.

I could be smoking crack, but I think that this problem was because of the Bose (every other car I did was fine). However, I would apply both these fixes (connect power antenna wire even though there is no power antenna, ground stereo to metal chassis - not the harness) because it is the correct way to do it for any radio.

Let me know how it worked out!

Looks like I spoke too soon. The receiption did improve a lot but after taking it for a ride last night it's not 100%. I'm gonna call Kenwood to see what they have to say....they should be a big help
