Relay question
I'll admit I'm a little dumb when speaking of electronics, so I thought I asked those more knowledgeable.
There is a relay on a set of PIAA fog lights that seems to have gone bad. It is a little black box with a fuse in there. I believe the relay is "bad" because it has power coming in, but nothing coming out (e.g. the fog lights do not work). The lights worked in the past. The fuses (one in the relay and the other in the fuse box) are good. I checked them with a test light.
I did some Internet research and have found the PIAA relays have a tendency to go bad.
My question is: Can I replace the relay with a generic relay, say, from Radio Shack? Or, do I have to get a PIAA relay? If I can go generic, what do I need to look for? I doubt I would find anything in a store with the same connectors on both ends.
I know I can by-pass the relay but I don't want to do that.
Thanks
