Trouble getting CD's to play in Bose

Lately my CD's are giving me an ERROR message when I first insert them and they don't play. When I keep reinserting them, they will eventually start playing.

I makes no difference whether the CD is a copy or an original.

When I did a search, I found this post:

[Quote I had this same problem...
and it got really bad this past week...wouldn't even BEGIN to play
my CDs...I took one of those compressed air cans (for blowing dust in
computers), sprayed air all around in there, and haven't had a problem since.
I thought it was the CDs, but, those same CDs work now...
So, it definitely cold be a dirty laser.
good luck,

Has anyone else tried this compressed air fix? Any other suggestions to fix the problem besides sending the whole Bose unit in for repair?

Mine does the same thing. Used the compressed air and it DID NOT work.

go to www.carstereohelp.com

If you send them your head unit, they can repair it, or you can just buy a stock replacement unit. They also supply all stock parts for the Maxima's Bose System that may have broken. So if your Bose craps out, you can alwyas get replacements to keep it sounding great.

Not being eager to remove and send off my Bose, I experimented trying to solve the problem. First of all, the problem reading CD's upon insertion started after I had left one CD in the unit continously for a week. It was when I first changed that CD that I was getting the error message. Well, I kept reinserting CD's until I got one to play. After getting one to play I KEPT REMOVING IT RATHER THAN LEAVING IT IN THE UNIT when I shut off the engine. So far, I have inserted different CD's in over 10 times with no malfunction. When I'm not using the CD I make sure there is no CD in place.

My theory is something in the Bose CD mechanism is sticking when I leave the same CD in the unit for an extended time.

Others with Bose CD error messages might try this and see if it helps.
