Headlight Security

I have a 2003 Maxima and I just had the headlights stolen out of the car. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to help prevent this from happening again. I went to my local car audio shop and the guy there told me that a proximity sensor wouldnt help because the sensor only works for the middle part of the car and since the headlights are of course all the way in the front that the sensitivity would have to be set too high for it to reach. I have teh factory alarm on the car now, but of course I will be getting a better one, any preferences on which one i should get and with what options? Any ideas, suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
