Rattles

Hey everybody. I got 3 rolls of peel and seal and was going to install this weekend. When I opened up the trunk and cleared it out, I backed out. I'm afraid of taking the carpet off of the trunk. Do you think there is anything under it that may come loose if I do? Also, a LOT of rattles are coming from the damed rear deck. I wen't to home depot to get some weather stripping to stuff down in the crack where the deck meets the windshield, but it just sortof fell down the crack. I tried to look to see where the deck comes off, but there is plastic holding it down behind the seats. and I don't see it anywhere in the trunk. Can someone help me out with this? The rattles really **** me off because of all the money I have spent on the system. Makes it sound like ****.

Hey Ma><, I feel your pain.
While I don't think you should worry about anything coming lose if you take the carpet off (I took mine off this weekend, to muck about with my spare, and to start cleaning it for my Brown Bread install (dynamat competitor), you might want to make sure you don't lose any of the clips for the paneling.

As far as the weatherstripping, and the rear deck, in order to really do that right, you might have to pop the deck out, which involves a few rivet type things, and removing your rear seats. I know there are instructions on here somewhere.

IN The meantime, I know what you mean about the back window. Here is my GHETTO solution. You can either use little pieces of rag, or some electrical/hockey tape (yes, I said ghetto didn't I?), and wad it up a little, then JAM it into the gap between the plastic and the back window. It may take a few wads, but it almost completely eliminated that annoying rattle on mine (until I get the time to pull the deck out when the cold goes away).

Hope this helps in the mean time. Rattles suck!

Mike

That's a good idea, man. I'm gonna do that I think. I have a bunch of clean white "diaper" rags that I could use to do that. It just sounds sooo awful when it shakes back there. I hate the idea of having to remove anything as large as the rear seats, as I would think that I would just be creating more rattles by moving all that stuff around back there. I guess I will see what happens. I will probably try the peel and seal sometime in the next few weeks, maybe when it warms up a little. Thanks again.
