Scanner light Installation
I just bought one of those snanner lights that blink when you turn off the car and I wanted to know how to hook it up without an alarm system. there are 3 wires- red black and yellow. the yellow is suppose to hook up to the alarm but you can ground it to the ingition or radio fuse or something like that. the problem is that I dont know where that is. can someone plz help me out?

I have one of those LED Scanners in my car. The easiest way to hook it up is to ground both the "alarm wire" and the black (ground) wire. If you are hooking the scanner to a switch you need to hook the red wire to the 'positive' prong of the switch. Hook the specified prong of the switch to the positive battery terminal, and ground the other two wires.
so just connect the red to battery(+) and ground black and alarm(yellow) to to chassis? I tried putting the black and alarm wire both to the battery(-) and added a interrupter switch which it made it work but it melted the insulation off of the red wire which was on the batt(+). So just grounding the alarm wire will make it work? will it be on even if the car is on? or do I need a switch
I got a Varad EL scanner. It also had three wires like yours: red, yellow, and black. I hook the red one to the + battery. I grounded both the yellow and black wires. I put a switch in, only way I find it easier to install. The black wire, I grounded. There were two wires on the switch. I hooked the yellow wire to one of the switch's wire. Then, I hooked the switch wire to ground. I used the inside of the fuse box area as ground for both the black and switch wires. If you do put in a switch, just remember to turn it off when you are driving.

Alright, I'll try and answer this again. The way i have mine hooked up is to a switch. I can turn the LED Scanner on whether the car is on or off. The switch I used has two prongs in the bag of it. You hook the red wire to the specified prong and ground the black and yellow wires to the closest place possible. I grounded it under the side door panel. Then run a wire from the other prong on the switch to the positive terminal of your battery. That's it, now you can toggle the scanner on and off. Let me know if you have any more questions.
