one more question about wiring

i have that Clarion vrx925vd deck and i wired it all up the way the book says to do. But when i shut the car off it doesnt save the clock settings, now i know this isnt normal. I have tried switching the acessories and the power but that would just give the deck constant power and it would always stay on even if i shut the car off

i dont know what else to do...could it be a faulty deck?

You need to know which wire is the constant lead (power all the time) and which wire is the switched lead (power when ignition is on). What year is your car? This will help us help you with the installation.

umm....check your wires. Yellow should be on a constant +12V source, red should be on an ignition +12V source. In other words, Make sure that yellow wire always has 12V. Sounds like you have the yellow on a switched 12V lead.

its a 98 maxima

like i stated i have already switched the wires and 1 way the deck has constant power but when i turn off the car, the deck stays on.

the other way it turns off the deck...saves all the settings but the clock..hmmm i wonder if i wire it the 1st way the deck is supposed to stay on and i have to power down the deck

i dont know

Get a tester out and make sure that your switched power and constant are both working properly. If your deck is not saving clock settings (assuming you have gone through the book), and your wiring is correct, sounds like it's a deck problem.

Check your fuses

I had a similar problem with another car (not my max) and it was the fuse to the cigg lighter and when I replaced it, all was good again. It probably isn't that, but might as well check that first before you begin testing the wires.
