replace headunit = no trip milage?

I'm getting the headunit repalced on my 2003 se (w/out bose) and the guy said that i will loose my trip milage display because it is tied into the factory radio. Is there any way to fix that? I'm sure this has been covered before but i can't do a search since that function is disabled. Any input would be great.

Thanks

You won't lose it. It stinks that the search function is disabled because I can't remember for sure what the color is. Contact Pearl96Max. I'm 99% sure it's the Brown wire with white stripe needs to be grounded and walla, it'll work. I had the same issue and someone here pointed me to that fix. Once that wire is grounded, everything will work fine. If your stereo shop doesn't know this, go somewhere else!

No problem. They will have to test it out though. I'm pretty darn sure it's the brown wire, but it's been 5 months or so.

Well, I told the shop about this and they thought it could "burn something up" so they wanted me to sign a letter absolving them of any problems. So i ended up not doing it figuring i would look into it further b4 i did. Is it hard to do on your own?
