You may get more responses if you had a complete profile. It's hard to tell you "how hard" when we don't know which generation Maxima you have. But, in general, the more surface area that your woofer has, you will get better bass. So, naturally, the 6x9's would be the ones to be more capable when it comes to bass output.

6X9s would fit a 4th gen?! I thought it was 6.5s all the way around!?

If you are very patient and handy go for the 6x9's. But since said your not, just go with 6.5 .

Mine neither, my pioneer 6.5 speakers didnt line up with the screw holes in the front door. Now i dont have a perfect seal around the mounting, im very dissapointed since the box said it was 6 3/4 compatible. I didnt screw in the back yet since the area around the speaker oppenings are all rotted out on the deck. Where can i get a replacement rear deck. I previously had 6x9 in the back they didnt sink into the hole well due to the basket, i wouldnt suggest putting in 6x9's a good set of 6.5 will sound just as good and mabey even better

i had Boston Pro Components in the rear when i first did my system. I lter decided on installing 6x9's to get more mid-bass and midrange outta the rear. And after comparing the two id have to say 6x9's are definitly louder and hit harder than the 6.5's. But i do miss the extreme clarity from the Pro's

To my understanding... It depends on the way that you place the speakers in the holes... If you want to replace them from the top you would have to use 6.5 but if you are mounting them from the bottom (in the trunk) you use 6x9....

No,no,no Patrick. , then there is the possibility of the cone/surround hitting.
