Capacitor Question

I have a stinger 1 farad, digital display capacitor.

This is my question: After I have shut the car off, the digital display remains on. The display never shuts-off. Is this normal?

Thanks, Jay.

my audiobahn does it also. I'm assuming it's because there is constant current going through it even when it's off.

I would guess that it is normal, because the cap always has 12V to it.

Unless you hook up a large relay or isolator, it is always on. That's why you don't want to leave it sitting for exteneded periods without starting the car to recharge the battery. There are other things in the car that are always on, like the clock. All added up it shouldn't be enough to drain you stock battery in under a month. I don't have the amperage numbers. But if your battery is not in good shape this could help push it to it's demise.

once the cap is fully charged it will keep its voltage for years if never discharged, it really isnt drawing any power once the car is off, the led may draw 5mA if anything, no big deal at all
