Sirius install question

I have the Panasonic unit. It has the red wire and a yellow wire for power. Do I have to use both just like a stereo? Reason being I don't want to run a wire all through the car. I have an amp in the same place the Sirius box is. I tried running the red wire and gnd wire to the amp but the Sirius doesn't power on. I'm thinking it's because the yellow wire isn't connected but I thought maybe somebody would say that something else is the problem and I don't have to connect that wire. I just think it's lame that you have to run a little wire along all my amp wires to power the thing up.

I just tapped the red wire to the remote on my amp, the yellow to the battery term on the amp, and the black to the chassis.

Thanks! Are the button lights of the unit suppose to be on all the time? I turned the ignition off and the button lights are still on.

I think mine shut off??? I don't have my car right now, so i can't double-check. If you connect the red to a switched source, i think they'll shut off.

What a good idea! I just ran my wires this afternoon and had to run a wire all the way from my hazards to my trunk when I could have just used my amp. Not to mention that I blew 3 fuses in the process.
