I finally finished hooking up my stereo and when i go to hook up the power wrire to the battery, it sparks upon contact and the fuse in my amp blows! any ideas on how i could fix this tommorow?

oh yea, if i have a 60 w fuse on the power line and the amp has a 40 w is that a problem?

the amp is a hifonics zeus 200 x 2 amp, please help

ya...... leave the fuses out.....
connect the power..Buy new fuses and put them in. voila.

Now, why was it sparking?
Are your connections correct?
DId you double check?

Explain how you did your wiring thoughrouly

 

make sure your +12V and your ground are not reversed at the amp. I did that before. The fuse blew instantly.

 

Disconnect battery ground cable. Connect amps with fuses. Reconnect battery ground cable when you have checked all wires and connections 3 times. Everytime you complete the circuit you will get a spark.
