Another Head Unit Question

Ok, I ripped apart my max tonight to try and see how my install would go and I realized it is going to more of a pain than I thought. I have an Alpine CDA-9815 and it requires a direct run to the battery. Also when I try to line the screw holes up my trim ring either hits the edges of the dash or sticks out 1/4" from it.
Does anyone have any good suggestions on where I can run the power wire through the firewall at? It looks like all the wires now go through the fender. Im pretty sure I am going to have to drill new holes in the stereo bracket. Nissan loves to make things hard!!!
Any thoughts?

If you open your hood and look at the firewall. You may find a rubber grommet plugging up a hole. That's how i found a hole for my 98

I have another thought....Do you really need to run a wire to the battery? Most HUs just need a "constant" +12V source. You should be able to find a wire off of the factory radio harness that has +12 with the car off. Just use a volt meter or test light.

That would normally be no problem. Unfortunately, the HU that I have has a hybrid amp in it that causes a high draw and requires a 10 gauge wire run to the battery. Gotta love Alpine.
