Single 12" JL Audio W3

I currently have a pair of Visonik 12" SVCs running off my Premier 2-ch amp. So Im only running the amp at 50W/ch. I am looking at getting a single JL 12" W3 (new style) enclosed in a High output Bandpass box. I was wondering if anyone has had good opinions on this sub before I buy it? I will be trading in my Visonik's for it along with $200 for the JL sub. So Im hoping this will be a good move. Thanks a lot!

I have a 12w3 dual 4 ohm in a sealed box, driven by a Alpine V12 MRD-M300 putting out 300 watts RMS. It's plenty for me. There are of course many setups that will shake your car much harder than mine, but I'm not interested in waking up the neighbors.

If you are going with the bandpass, you might want to put a little more power behind it than I have.

I have 2 12 JL w3's powered by a 500 watt kenwood exceleron amp and it hits hard, i think it would be worth your money.

yeah, my premier will run about 300w/rms x 1 into the sub, so Im hoping it will be good enough. Im looking for very deep bass, not so much pounding, but powerful enough to amplify the lows a lot more than I do now.

one sub is plenty for a nice system...all I've got is a 12w0...about 4 years old and it still sounds beautiful...even all bruised up..(scratched cone.)

Sounds like you'll be happy then!

Yeah, I hope so. I play a lot of music with low bass, so it has to be worth my money. I wonder what else is out there with similar quality sound. For that price.

The 12W3 is a good sup. With 300 watts it should be fine.

i change my amps alot, i went from a MA audio 1500 watt class X amp, to audiobahn 1800 watt amp, both of those i didn't like b/c for one, they are the same company, and they don't feel like they push the power they are rated at, but i finally chose the jl 1000/1 for the subs, i can run at almost any impedance and it will run me a solid 1000 watts though i bought the optional gain controller and didn't turn it all the way up much..... I just bought a new car, so my system maybe for sale, the amp is already gone (gave it to my brother)......

oh yea.... i'm not crazy, i live in new orleans and big systems are very common here.... for instance my neighbor has 16 subs in an old trans am, that's right Trans Am..... IT makes a wall behind him with 2 punch 15's right behind his head and the rest just going up and down in various sizes from 12's to 8's mostly 10's though..... Crazy set up..... i
'm pretty sure he spent more for his system than his car.....

I wouldn't bow to that, I'd laugh. For that kind of money, he could be driving a nicer car instead.

I bow, because the guy has 16 subs. Yes, he could be driving a nicer car, but admit it, 16 subs is insane. If they are quality subs, then that is one hell of an audio system

yes indeed..... the car is probably early 80's style too... but down here, they have plenty of people with too much money and they just get dumb with it.... like my 3 12's would be a mediocre system where i live, not many play 1 sub, most play at least 2 and they don't play cheap stuff, my best friend has 3 12" jl w7's, i like his system alot......

the subs in the trans am are all punch, the older model with the old RF sign (boxy, not the new sign that kinda swirls)..... and if any of y'all plan to run a lot of subs, do what he did, buy Orian amps, i suggest the Orian reds b/c they are really under rated, plus when u run them at crazily low impedences like .5 or 1 ohm, they put out lots of power for an amp that are rated with such low power at 4 ohms....

15's 12's 10's and 8's all in the same car? would that be a bit too muddy?

actually no, b/c they all hit diff. frequencies..... so it gives him a very wide range that he hits... it doesn't muffle up, but he can't really turn up his amps too much, b/c it'll drown his highs, plus make him go deaf....
