is 3 in 1 silent step underlayment a good sound dampening?

i just went to home depot and i couldnt find any peal and seal so i thought i would try out this stuff called 3 in 1 silent step underlayment for under hard wood flooring. it says that it is a great sound dampener. i was wondering if anyone has tried this or has heard anything about it. it was about 67 cents/ sq.ft. if not what are some reasonable alternatives to this that i can purchase locally? for not as much as dynamat. thanks alot.

That stuff is probably too light to do much. But will still do more than nothing at all. What area are you planning ot work on?

For something basically the same as peel & seal, ramm mat, Edead, dynamat extreme go directly to either ramm audio's web site or Elemental Designs and buy direct. For something like the cascade audio vinyl material go to sound down and buy direct. If you get the sound down material make sure you get no thicker than 1/16 inch and get it with the adhesive backing. I think it's about $1.50 / sq ft with the adhesive backing.
