Anyone know how to remove the tweeters?

I found how to remove the front door speakers as well as the rear deck ones but no one has told how to remove the tweeters. Can I just pop off the grills or do i have to remove the plastic covering the pillar? If so, how do I do that? thank you

The plastic pillar cover just pops off. You can remove the tweeter from behind after that.

thanks, i didn't want to just try it like i did the door grills (later finding out they don't just pop off).

Also, i just noticed where the threads have been moved to, I'm sorry. I didn't know there was an Audio section.

welcome to the audio section...actually if you have a 4th gen you have to remove the door panel...ro remove the screws that hold in the tweeter.

not all 4th gens have tweeters in the door panel. 95-96 had tweeters in the pillar. 97-99 had them in the door. for 95-96, you justy need to pull off the pillar. it is held in by 2 or 3 clips. Just be careful not to brake the pillar by pulling on it. Be very careful when pulling off.

how hard is it to run the wiring from the pillar mounted tweeters to the floor of the car because if its to hard, i'll just put my new tweeters down on the doors with my midbass drivers.

okay, i got the tweeter grills off with no trouble at all, but don't see how to get the actual tweeters out. Don't see any screws or anything. Also, all i took off were the grills, couldn't figure out how to get the entire pillar off, like the bottom part moves back and forth a little, but not enough to slide the whole thing out. thanks

Like I said above you have to remove the door panel...there are two/three screws at the bottom of the door panel...one in the little holder...then a couple of snaps...just tug a bit and you'll see...it comes apart pretty easy

naw, like someone said before, 95/65 have the tweeters in the pillars. I know they're there cause I can see them. I've already replaced the speakers in the doors (by taking the panels off etc). Just the tweeters are giving me trouble. I might just leave them in there cause I put my new tweeters down on the doors next to the mids.

The pillars come off by pulling back the rubber gasket, then popping the pillar itself out from the top first. Proceed pulling going down the pillar. When you get to the bottom there is a small slot that keeps it aligned, come out some towards the opposite side of the car and wiggle it out. Very simple to do. The tweeters are held into the car via clips. The small screws hold the tweeter to the mounting brack, not the car itself.
