I would suggest just getting new speakers since the bose speakers wont be running at highwattage anyway.

When you say add a system do you mean subs? If so then just buy the adapter and run it off of the rear speakers. I just recently bought a new headunit that has RCA outputs on the back and I hooked my subs up that way. It wasn't loud at all so I am still using my cheapo adapter. I think I need to mess around with the settings and I can hook it up the other way but I am happy now.

You can get the PAC AOEM-NIS2 kit from affsave.com for $55.00 shipped. It will allow you to keep your existing Bose HU, amps and speakers, while providing 4 RCA outputs (FL, FR, RL, RR) for use with your subs and sub amp. Read the second page of the Audio FAQ for more info.
